Black Hat 2024: The Menlo Recap

|

Black Hat 2024 was a whirlwind of innovation and excitement. The Menlo Security team was thrilled to be at the center of it all, connecting with industry leaders, showcasing our Secure Enterprise Browser solution, and sharing our latest research on the evolving threat landscape.

Here's a quick recap of the highlights:

Kick-off Happy Hour at BrewDog

We kicked off the week by teaming up with Google Cloud to host a fantastic happy hour at BrewDog. The place was buzzing with energy! Co-branded swag, delicious apps, and drinks set the perfect backdrop for networking and fun.

Zero Trust enhancements

At Black Hat, we unveiled exciting enhancements to Menlo Zero Trust Access, our comprehensive Zero Trust solution. The enhancements to Menlo Zero Trust Access provide a comprehensive approach to safeguarding enterprise browsing and addressing critical aspects of zero trust. We also unveiled new findings in our follow-up to the Global Cyber Gangs Threat Report.

Here's what's new:

  • Enhanced support for Apple Ecosystem: We've just released a Safari Extension, available now in the App Store. This extension boosts the security of our Secure Enterprise Browser and Zero Trust Access solutions for Apple mobile devices. Endpoint posture checks are also supported on macOS for secure internet and enterprise application access.
  • Multi Cloud App Connectors: In addition to our ongoing collaboration with Google Cloud and delivering support for GCP Application Connectors, we have increased multi-cloud support and have announced support for applications hosted on Microsoft Azure. In addition to this public cloud support, private cloud and on-premises support has been enhanced with support for Microsoft Hyper-V. (Amazon AWS and VMware vSphere have existing support.)
  • Secure Application Access Monitoring Dashboard and Insights: As Zero Trust Access deployments scale beyond Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) transformation and remote access VPN replacements, enterprises require deeper visibility. Our Secure Application Access Monitoring Dashboard and Insights provide centralized reporting and intelligence into users accessing the enterprise applications, top applications being accessed, users doing uploads and downloads, DLP policies triggers, source geo, and the health of connectors.
  • Open-Redirect phishing scheme exposed: Our Menlo Labs Threat Research Team exposed and stopped a sophisticated Open-Redirect phishing scheme that leveraged trusted sites like Google Drawings and WhatsApp to evade traditional security tools. This research underscores the urgent need for AI-powered solutions like Menlo HEAT Shield to detect and block these zero-hour threats in real time.

Booth #1860 was the place to be

Our booth was buzzing with activity throughout the week. Attendees enjoyed:

  • Engaging demos: We showcased the power of our solutions through 1:1 demos.
  • Selfie wall: Everyone loves a good selfie! We captured the fun with our selfie wall featuring our neon sign!
  • Prizes: Attendees spun a wheel for a chance to win some exclusive Menlo Security prizes.
  • Coffee and espresso martinis: We kept everyone fueled and energized with coffee and, later, delicious espresso martinis.

An evening to remember

We wrapped up Black Hat with an exclusive VIP Dinner at Retro by Voltaggio. The food was amazing, and the conversations were even better. It was an unforgettable experience connecting with industry leaders.

Thank you to everyone who made Black Hat 2024 a success! We're already looking forward to next year.
