While endpoint detection and response (EDR) technology and next-gen authentication tools like multi-factor authentication (MFA) are a crucial component of many organizations’ security stacks, they’re far from one-size-fits-all solutions that can stop every cyber threat.

MFA isn’t immune to being compromised, and EDR tools lack visibility into suspicious activity going on within knowledge workers’ single biggest productivity tool and one of the most exposed threat vectors — the web browser. With EDR tools, by the time that a threat is detected, it’s already made its way onto the network and it’s too late to stop it.

To stay a step ahead of threats instead of reacting to them, focusing on a layered approach to security is critical. Organizations can ensure they’re covering all their bases by combining EDR tools and MFA with preventative security technology.

In this short video, Menlo Senior Director of Cybersecurity Strategy, Mark Guntrip, highlights the shortcomings of traditional security technology like EDR, and explains how organizations can implement them as a part of a preventative security strategy.
